when did this change?
for example, did they always say the new month began on each new moon? or how they determined this?
and did they call each month, like the month of “virgo”,” Leo”, etc?
how this challened the popes calendar?
and how they enforced his calendar?
where at did this last the longest and why?

yes, the babylonians as well as many pagans did.
not sure if they use this elsewhere nowadays or not.
